John Peters:

Born in the east end of London as Peter Medlycott during the 50’s to two fantastic parents.  I have been involved in music right from the age of 12 when I used to run a mobile disco up until I was 18.  I also had work with pirate radio, which was all the craze then in the 60’s, with the likes of Radio Caroline and Radio London not to mention the loads of other stations which were all around, then I got involved in radio working on hospital radio for several years until I moved to the west country.  I am a jingle and advert fanatic and I collect them from all over the place going way back.  I now live in the heart of Wiltshire (Trowbridge) where we have famous names like Bowyers which are famous for there pork pies etc and also Airsprung Beds.  We used to have a brewery in Trowbridge which was the home of Ushers beers but that closed down and now made abroad,  When I moved down to the west country I carried on with hospital radio, I then had a break from it for a while because they were closing all the local hospitals around here, so it was only a natural progression to own my own radio station.  Venture Radio came about with the closeure of Razor radio.  And most of the presenters came with myself and Tracy Clark to Venture.

 

Now you want to know how the name John Peters came about, well it’s not rocket science.  A good friend of mine Carl Emms many people might remember Carl from local radio in the west country.  He suggested “Why don’t you use your middle name first and your first name last”. Which I have done ever since, hence John Peters.  Thanks Carl for that.
